Bridwell is joinned by Tenny Henson and Bob Smith on Shazam! 32 (Nov/Dec 77), which sees Captain Marvel play baseball.
It is, perhaps, the lamest issue of the entire run, and that is saying a lot. Billy Batson and Uncle Dudley come to Detroit, and run into Mr Tawky Tawny. The tiger is there to audition for the local baseball team, the Detroit Tigers. But Mr. Mind is there as well, having kidnapped the team that was supposed to compete against them.
Mr. Mind replaces the challenging team with his own team of aliens. He threatens to kill the team he has kidnapped unless the Tigers play against his team. And if his team wins, he gets to take over the world. Or at least that's what he claims. Captain Marvel's big dilemma in the issue is whether he can join the Tigers, which would count as using his powers for gain. He uses the disco lights to talk to Shazam about this, and is basically told not to worry about such stupid things.
So Captain Marvel plays baseball against the aliens and wins. And that's all there is to the story. Mr. Mind escapes, and is back in the next issue.
