Michelinie is joined by Keith Giffen, Ricardo Villagran and Oscar Novelle on the art for Claw, the Unconquered 8 (July/Aug 76).
Changing up the art was not a bad idea, as the entire issue takes place outside of reality, so it really does have a very different compared to what has come before. Although Ghilkyn and Claw both enter the void by putting together the Grimstone, Ghilkyn, being human, is immediately thrust back into reality. Claw, because of his demon hand, is able to stay.
The story itself is fairly simple, as Claw moves through the bizarre realm, fights off some beasties, finds the sword he has come to retrieve, and battles another transformed human in order to gain possession of it.
The art has some really great visuals, and heavily shows Giffen's work, moreso than Villagran.
And, as so often happens, Claw's fighting skills can only take him so far. It's the innate knowledge of the demon hand, which acts on it's own, that triumphs, destroying the crystal that holds the soul of his opponent. Claw gets the sword, and as the story ends, heads back to reality.
The story continues in the next issue.
